Using Western Herbal Medicine to Help Overcome your Stressors.
Here are some common herbal teas that are recommended for anxiety.
-
Chamomile: Contains plant compounds that bind to brain receptors to ease nervous tension, often enjoyed as tea.
-
Ashwagandha: An adaptogen—a plant that helps the body manage stress—that may lower stress hormone levels.
-
Lavender: Used in aromatherapy or topical applications to help reduce heart rate and feelings of restlessness. Dr. Hobbs also grows this in her backyard and will eat a flower petal on days of high stress.
-
Passionflower: Supports relaxation by interacting with calming brain chemicals, similar to chamomile.
-
Lemon balm: A mint-family herb traditionally used to soothe worry and ease acute nervousness. Lemon Balm is something Dr. Hobbs grows in her garden and used frequently for those high stressed moments and high blood pressure relief.
